A performance case, not a wellness moment

The gender wellbeing gap is not a soft issue sitting to one side of performance. It is a performance risk, and a leadership pipeline issue organisations can’t afford to ignore.

When energy, recovery and cognitive capacity are chronically depleted, ambition does not disappear. It becomes biologically harder to sustain. The women carrying the heaviest cognitive and emotional load in your business are the ones you can least afford to lose, and the ones most likely to be quietly running on empty. When they step back or leave, the pipeline behind them goes with them, and Deloitte puts the cost of limited support at more than two million lost workdays a year, US$16.5 billion in missed opportunity (Women @ Work 2025).

60% of senior-level women report frequent burnout, against;

50% of senior-level men.

The format

A 90-minute keynote, delivered around a table.

The Powered-Up Table is an executive keynote for female leaders, built on the science of sustainable peak-performance and delivered in an intimate lunch format. It runs 90 minutes, a 45-minute keynote followed by 30 minutes of facilitated conversation over lunch. Dr Kristy Goodwin decodes the neuroscience of performing at a high level without paying the Success Tax, drawing on wearable biometric data and 20 years of peer-reviewed research, and then hands the room the thing a large conference never allows, the conversation these women have been wanting to have.

Every session begins before the day. A pre-event Powered-Up Profile diagnostic reads how powered-up or powered-down the group is, and the keynote is built from their own data. This is the session women keep asking for, and the catalyst for conversations that continue long after the plates are cleared. Run it once, or as a recurring table across the year, for International Women’s Day in March, Women’s Health Week in September, or any leadership moment in between.

The science

Built for female physiology, not adapted from someone else’s.

The women at this table have read the productivity books and tried the morning routines. They are done with hacks and tips. What they have not been handed is science built for their biology. Most performance advice was designed around male physiology and given to everyone, and it quietly fails the woman whose stress response, sleep and recovery shift across her cycle, and again through perimenopause, often at the exact stage she reaches senior leadership.

Oestrogen and progesterone modulate the body’s stress axis, so a woman’s capacity to carry load is not fixed, it moves. Layer on allostatic load, the cumulative physiological cost of chronic stress and the invisible cognitive labour that still falls disproportionately on women, and fatigue runs close to twice as common in women as in men. This is not a resilience deficit. It is a mismatch between how the modern workday is built and how the female Human Operating System actually works.

Two settings

You choose where the table sits.

The session and the diagnostic stay the same. Only the room changes, and the room changes what the day signals.

In your office

Close to the work

A considered lunch brought into your own space. The most contained option, with no travel and no lost hours, and it sits well inside a wider leadership day or offsite. The team stays close to the work and the conversation carries straight back into the building.

You arrange catering and a room that seats the group around one table.

At a restaurant

A clean break from reactive mode

What each delegate leaves with

Tools they will still be using in six months, not a feeling that fades by Monday.

i.

Their own Powered-Up Profile

A personal read on where they sit on the powered-up to powered-down spectrum, from the pre-event diagnostic. A baseline they can act on, and return to.

ii.

A personalised Power-Up Plan

Micro-habits matched to their own Human Operating System and chronotype, not generic advice. The smallest changes that compound, chosen for how they actually work..

iii.

The science behind the gap

Why a woman’s stress response runs differently, named at the level of biology. When the mechanism is clear, exhaustion stops reading as a personal failing.

iv.

Protocols for the next morning

Aligning demanding work to ultradian rhythms, Piccolo Breaks, protecting Cognitive Prime Time, and exhale-emphasised breathing to settle the stress response under pressure.

v.

Shared language to take back

The Success Tax, the Focus Quotient, the Human Operating System. A common vocabulary leaders carry into their teams, so the conversation keeps going after the table clears.

vi.

A rare room

Time alongside peers carrying the same load. The kind of connection a 500-person conference is built to prevent, and this format is built to allow.

 The atmosphere

A room worth stepping out of the day for.

From the room

I left the room feeling more energised, more intentional, and grateful to be learning alongside so many of my colleagues. Sometimes rest really is the work.

Why it matters beyond the day

The start of a conversation your organisation keeps having.

A morning tea marks the moment and disappears. This does something different. It gives your leaders a shared language and a data baseline, so supporting senior women becomes a performance conversation held with evidence, not a gesture held once a year.

The gender wellbeing gap is a psychosocial and performance issue leaders can now name and act on. The Powered-Up Profile turns it from an abstract concern into a measurable one, specific to your people. That is what real support for female leaders looks like, science-backed, specific, and built to continue after the plates are cleared.

Support that lands is support that names the mechanism, hands over the tools, and gives the room the language to keep the conversation alive.

The approach is measurable

+22%

−30.4%
